A new student-led organization at Lincoln University is creating space for applied learning beyond the classroom. The Investment Club, founded by Harmeet Devgun, aims to bring together students from all majors to explore equity research, industry analysis, and market strategy in a structured, risk-free environment.

Founded with the goal of encouraging active participation and intellectual growth, the club emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and professional development.

“Our focus is not just on stocks,” explained Harmeet. “It’s about building confidence, learning how to analyze industries, and applying what we study in class to real companies.”

What Members Do

Throughout each research cycle, members engage in:

  • Equity research

  • Industry and sector analysis

  • Trading concepts and chart interpretation

  • Market and news impact evaluation

  • Competitive positioning analysis

  • Risk assessment

Each cycle concludes with structured presentations, where members present their findings to peers. This presentation component is central to the club’s mission, helping students strengthen communication skills, defend their ideas, and build professional confidence.

Selected research summaries may also be shared on LinkedIn, allowing members to showcase applied analytical skills in a professional setting.

Open to All Majors

The Investment Club welcomes students from across disciplines, including business, finance, computer science, engineering, economics, marketing, and policy studies. Rather than separating by major, the club promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.

Business students may analyze corporate strategy, finance students evaluate financial performance, computer science students explore innovation trends, and economics students assess industry structure. Each discipline contributes a different lens to company research.

Applying Theory to Practice

While university coursework provides foundational knowledge, the Investment Club offers students an opportunity to apply those concepts in real-world contexts. By analyzing actual companies and industries, members gain deeper insight into how markets function and how strategic decisions are made.

The club is currently open to all Lincoln University students.
